Now why is it that certain characters have extremely high base damage and def. Unless your also playing a bruiser, your going to get destroyed. They serisouly have to build nothing but defense and they still do more damage than anyone else. Why is this a thing?

Bruisers have acceptable innate damage output, but they cannot out-scale damage-focused archetypes. The way they deal more damage is by surviving to continue dealing damage, rather than deal it over a shorter period of time.

At the moment we're seeing J4, Jayce and Mao wreck their enemies at the WC finals.

I actually think balancing it's fine. I think it'S funny how so many people hate on carries, while there's definitely evidence how destructive bruisers are.

If anything, Bruisers are being pushed away by straight up tanks, like Maokai, and those ranged top laners that are much like Lulu, Gnar and even Ryze. Hell, even Rumble is looking pretty damn good now and Kayle has seen a slight return. People like Renekton were pretty much pushed right on out of the meta as we now seem to want a secondary support for our ADC's, which can obliterate any fool who is not fully a tank.

On the topic of a bruiser's dmg, they deserve to do a large amount of damage. If you get in arms range of them, don't be surprised if they punch you and it hurts. They can keep you within range sometimes, but they are easily stopped by any sort of dash or CC.

To put it simply, bruisers are nowhere like they used to be. You can deal with them easily, but if you mess up they punish you hard. They've kind of been replaced, they aren't underpowered, but they certainly aren't OP.
