Shaco clone command with recasting R is significantly less responsive/accurate than custom hotkey

Unfortunately I'm stuck with a less than desirable mouse at the moment and no longer able to hotkey command pet to it, thus am forced to recast ult to command my clone, but it's absurdly less accurate when trying to make it attack a target, most times ending up just walking on top of an enemy champion and standing still making me feel as bad as I look...

What's even worse is it appears to not work on inhibitors at all.

Never once had this issue with custom key, I don't understand why it's so drastically worse.
