Need tips for adc

It's my favorite position and I got 4 adcs that I like playing with for different reasons and I don't want to switch off of that. But I need to know what can I do when I'm on a team that isn't caring about my protection at all that does nothing to make sure I survive and leaves me open to assassin's constantly or don't peel Olaf at all. I do admit I need to get better at securing early lane kills, and not taking free damage in lane. I don't get gank off so I'm good there I'm decent at last hitting minions could get better. Team fighting seems to be a weak spot of mine not sure what I can do when I have assassins chasing me and a team that isn't doing anything to protect me or at least make the assassin think twice about jumping in on me. I know assassins are design to kill me but isn't my team supposed to help protect me so I can ditch out damage?
