@Riot A question about MMR and divisions and how they relate to each other.

It seems weird to me to have MMR and division rankings separate.
I think it is illogical to have people from say silver 2 playing against people in say gold 4 or 5. They might have similar MMR and skill, but is it really fair to the person trying to climb the ladder? If someone is matching the average MMR of someone in a much higher division shouldn't he/she be entitled to climb closer to that division by playing people in their own division that they are superior to? It can be very frustrating to be very close to the next division and the rewards that come along with it only to miss out because you lost to people who are in a much higher division thus surrendering a chance at end of season rewards.
It seems nonsensical to give someone no rewards who is playing at the level of people who are getting those rewards.

Why not match people by their division? Then the punishment for doing poorly at the bottom of a division could be much more swift because the person is truly playing with people in the division he/she is currently in.

There shouldn't be people who can say," I am silver, but they always match me with gold". That is a disservice to the better players in my opinion. I realize i could be wrong and that I may not fully understand the situation, but this happens very frequently and there has to be some sort of cause along the lines of what I discussed above.

thanks to everyone for any feedback!
