@Riot Thank You, From A Support Player
No, seriously, I am actually thanking Riot. The newer support champions have been a ton of fun, and I feel more engaged now than ever before. Recently, I have picked up Tahm Kench, and I feel like he is a great combination of damage, utility, tankyness, and all around fun and games. He can be a solo laner or a support, but I have found the most success with him as a support. Also, I get a lot of thanks from my ADC for saving them from certain death.
I love the new Taric rework. He is similar to Tahm Kench in that he combines damage, utility, and tankyness. I feel like I have some good play making potential with Taric, and he feels multidimensional.
I even like the new Leona changes. While I don't think that is has made her stronger, I feel like I am more impactful, and it also makes AP Leona sets more viable.
Going to Thresh, he seems like a very engaging (literally) champion with his hook and lantern mechanics. It is also seriously fun to go full AD and nearly 1-shot squishies. Okay, sure. The itemization for all of these champions isn't perfect, but Riot is slowly starting to fix these things.
The newer (or more recently changed) supports seem to be multidimensional, as opposed to the likes of Soraka the heal bot or Blitzcrank the robot. I really enjoy the feeling of being Tahm and doing a chunk of the enemy ADC's health. Nothing too strong, but it is damage to be considered. I quite like getting a stun of with Taric and following up with my double pimp slap before backing off and healing. This is why I like current supports: They have some solo lane potential and do some damage while also providing utility and a minor amount of poke. This keeps me engaged, and combined with the near instant queue times, I have to say, Thank you Riot. It has been very fun playing as a support.
