Are we going to see a change in supports in bot lane?
For the last 2 seasons the bot lane has favored lock down, combo eccentric supports like leona, blitz and thresh. Statistics shown on lolking as far as tthe top picked champions include a large percentile of bot laners like Thresh, Jinx and what not. it's the only lane right now that has the least amount of diversity associated with it, with unpopular supports and ADC not being played much, or at all. Furthermore almost every ranged harassing support champion has not seen much play, and has a high death rate and/or high loss rate due to their lack of potential in a game.
My favorite support is karma, and while she does things, she still can't seem to do enough in lane to really turn the tide in her favor. her shield is weak, brief, and general. Her root has a short cast range, and the tether range is not much longer than the initial cast range. The root from it lasts a third of morgana's (1 second opposed to 3 seconds) You can increase it by 0.50 seconds if you mantra it (but if you do this it takes away over half of your damage potential in a combo play since you are not using it on Q) And she just overall doesn't do the damage she is capable of. Annie does more than her with the same items with heavier CC. Morgana can match her damage and have a teamwide stun.
It seems to me like the harassing supports are getting stuck with ever increasing skill shots that are either difficult to land, or don't pay off when they do lane. Others are getting minigames such as Zilean's "how many times can I hit them with a bomb" Does the bomb do anything? Tons of damage.. if it hits, and only if you have the AP to make it scale hard. Karma's empowered Q hits pretty hard, y et at the same time that damage doesn't seem to impact any level of a teamfight, especially if your team is behind. These supports are squishy, they can't rush into the front line and soak up damage, they can't single out a carry and lock them down or pull them into a bad position. The best they end up being capable of doing is maybe poking the enemy, waiting for them to engage. And even then, Tanks will lock down better than they will, with comparable damage, and more survivability.
