Normal and Ranked Queues?

Okay so I keep getting paired against people in a much higher elo then me in ranked and norms, generally gold-diamond range.

I am in Silver V and my teammates are generally silver and low gold range.

I'm not complaining but could anybody explain to me why this is happening? shouldn't i be placed with people more around my elo or is there another factor that I am not aware of?
