Mechanical Difficulty

Why do some of you enjoy mechanically simple champions? Personally I find them really boring and one dimensional. However I think I should start playing some if I want to succeed in ranked, so what about a simple champ appeals to you?

Because some people would rather play League of Legends the strategy game rather than League of Legends the button masher. If you don't have to think too much about flashy mechanics (although they help) you can focus on improving strategy, attitude and communication.

Because mechanically simple champions often offer more reward for less effort in comparison. Not always, but often.

For example, why play and dedicate yourself to Taliyah or Syndra mechanics, when there are better options for less effort? Anivia is a vastly superior Control Mage to Taliyah, that offers a Wall that isn't bound to an ultimate, and has vastly more damage. LeBlanc is a vastly better burst-mage than Syndra, so why go through the difficulty and effort of using Syndra when you can roflstomp with LeBlanc?

I know what I want to do I press the button It happens Responsive, clear results from my actions. Frees up my mind to focus on everything else that's going on, i.e. what lanes are winning? who's losing? where should I help out? what are the best objectives for us to focus on? what about for the enemy? where will they be? what damage types do I need to worry about? should we teamfight or splitpush? what items would best aid us?

I enjoy them because I am shit at games. Why would I try to play Azir if I can do almost nothing with him? The skill floor is too high for nubs like me. Also, mechanical difficulty is not the factor that determines if I play/like a champ. I also like them based on their kit, their look, their fantasy etc., etc. For example, I tend to dislike big burly tanky champs like Sion, Chairman Mao kai and Darius. I tend to like Ap champs much more than AD. I tend to like ranged more than melee.

Because people want to relax playing the game, not to smash their keayboards and mouse (playing Riven!!!).

I like my apm a bit on the low side since im not good at facerolling. Low skill champs are more reliable whereas high skill champs can fail horribly if you mess up .

I prefer complex significantly more over simple champs. I bore easily over anything with simple mechanics or easy to play... and anything complex or high skill cap makes this game drastically more fun for me.

Problem is I'm not always feeling up to playing anything complex (migraines make it very hard to focus), and on those days I have no choice. And even having said that there are some easy champs I still like playing.. Pantheon, Annie, Malphite, Garen etc. And those I cannot bring myself to play no matter what... YI, Darius, Fiora, etc.

But I'd prefer to play champs like Ezreal (ap especially), Viktor, Lee sin, Leblanc, Thresh, Azir, etc.

Inb4 some stooge says one of the champs I listed is "super easy, l2pay"...

I don't know how but I suck with them. Annie and Master Yi are probably two of my worst champions. Not that I usually play the most complex champs either

I always prefer the more mechanically complex champions and silly builds, but riot has been removing both.

People like to think that visually complex champions like lee sin are "mechanically intense", but in a lot of ways they really aren't. A lot of the things which could be used to make them mechanically difficult are often automated in some way to simplify them for the average player.

Also smashing a few buttons in quick succession isn't mechanical complexity.
