Crit Riot
So I played in the past 2 seasons, now that we are reaching a new season I took a break. Well, I came back to disappointment. I will be talking about the following points; Mastery, Items.
Mastery - The new mastery system doesn't seem to be hybrid friendly at all. The final talents for most trees are unused, its thunderlord or bond of stone. Other that the others are pointless to use. The system now seems to be built around AD champions (which I will cover more in Items).
Items - CRIT CRIT CRIT! Everything has crit, but the AP Items are not as useful as the AD items. Essence reaver for example gives mana back based on 3% of your crit...okay that's great and all for AD, but why doesn't AP users get something that instantly refunds % mana? AP use mana more, typically having a bigger mana pool but why cant we stop focusing on mana pool for AP and instead give them a way to refund mana. Now I must talk about how Crit is taking this game away from mages and putting more interest into ADC's and AD fighters. Mages have a limited choice in 100 AP items. Most games as a mage (non assassin) you will get about 500-600 AP... but when your abilities scale only 40% - 60% off the AP your ability damage is pathetic. An ADC with 250 AD and 100% crit (thanks to the new CRIT on everything method) is going to win every trade no stopping it. I bet a lot of you are thinking "Nah its balanced now"...but next time you play look at the end damage done, and AD's will be the top, and AP will be the bottom. Lee sin falls off late game, but with a hydra, and bloodthirster you can top damage done every game....without crit, just from surviving fights...but throw in an enemy like yasuo...and now he will do more damage then your entire team with less items. Its sad. League I understand you need a balance but CRIT is not a solution.
Now lets look at what the game would be like without CRIT. AD items would need adjusted to increase AD, but would be easier to balance with AP items. They could share passives with AP and AD...3% damage dealt is returned as mana...Essence Reaver...That goes for Abilities and autos. Make the game feel more balanced then having AD champs run the show, and making the mages only good for CC and meat shields. Thanks for listening to my rant, but I do see the problem with having Crit on too many items. I hope I have opened some eyes to the usefulness of AD items compared to AP items.
