I don't think it has any place in ranked, but for those of you who joined in the last year/don't know exactly what Team Builder was, here's a rundown.

1. You choose to either join or own a team.

If you chose to join a team: 2) You pick your role (just one) and the champion you want to play. Eventually, another team owner would click you to let you join their team. 3) If you didn't like the team that picked you (maybe you didn't like the composition) you could leave the team and be placed back into the pool and wait for a new team to pick you. 4) Once a whole team was formed, matchmaking placed you into a blind queue against another team (yes, mirror lanes are possible).

If you chose to own a team: 2) You select what roles you want on your team (generally the typical top/jungle/mid/ADC/support setup). 3) Another player looking to join the team would pop up and you would either select them or pass for another option (Singed support, do you want it? Yes/No). 4) Once you get a full team of players you want/players who want to stay, you can begin the blind queue.

If you chose either: 5) Enjoy a game with your exact role and champion you want to play in an often no-pressure environment.

The reason this all went away was because of the new champion select in which you all gear up for a desired role and join a champion draft. However, this left up the possibility for the champ you wanted to play getting banned, picked away, or not getting the specific role you wanted to practice at the time. With the introduction of auto-fill (which I 100% support), what was once simply a better version/replacement for Team Builder has grown farther and farther away from the purpose of Team Builder in the first place, which was guaranteeing you get the exact role and champion you desire in 100% of normal games, even if the price was a slightly slower queue.

Of course, I don't know a thing about queue times in higher elos, but I wanted to discuss whether or not something like this seems like it would be a good idea to bring back. In no way would I want to change the way champ select is being changed; I feel like it's a step in the right direction. I do, however, feel like bringing Team Builder back would alleviate a lot of the tension.
