Toxicity increases per rank?

I put this in gameplay because even though I've noticed with my climb from silver a few seasons back to plat, even though the level of play (sometimes) is better, the toxicity is insane. This preseason has been so crazy toxic that I've actually started resorting to submitting tickets to support because of multiple death threats, racism, hate speech, and just constant abuse.

I understand most people expect to win when you get to the top 10% of the game, but seriously, most of you these plat players need to chill out. I have a better understanding of the game than I believe most do at platinum in terms of map rotation, securing objevtives and overall play; especially since I am a jungler, the most macro level position. When I try to give pointers or teach others, its often met with backlash and toxicity. No ones perfect, but jeez, take a chill pill. Our society is so coddled that no one can take constructive criticism anymore, otherwise, I'm some how personally attacking you. Maybe this is why NA is looked down upon so much, absolute toxicity and trolling.
