Request: African Server

I made a tweet earlier suggesting Riot to make African servers to which the lovely RiotSupport Yadon took his time to respond to me, telling me to share my thoughts here.

Now.. Devs, it's almost 2019. Africa is gonna be part of the esports industry in the coming year, as plans have been put to action by some. I think we deserve a server of our own in order for us to have a chance at participating in the LCS. I'm in many groups with tons of African gamers including myself that play League at a constant 90+~ ms. I managed to get to Platinum, however others that live in West African countries and South Africa as well have trouble getting out of Silver solely due to their ping being 160-200+ ms.. Yet they still continue playing, simply out of love for the game! I've even started making gameplay videos on YouTube, trying to break barriers and let everyone see that Africa is prepared to challenge the rest of the world in esports.

So, Devs.. please try and make this happen. There are literally millions of African gamers that'd definitely play League if there was a stable African Server.. I haven't gotten any presents or wished for anything this Christmas.. so this is my one wish, Riot..

Sorry to disappoint you, but the reason African server isn't made is simply that Riot wouldn't be able to sustain it on a profitable level. They have probably already done the maths and it just doesn't add up.

Numbers aren't the issue, it's profit.

Needed investment is high and income is low. It needs to be economically profitable first.

Lets be real, theres very few players in africa so theres really no point in making a server that riot has to dedicate resources to maintain. It takes too much man power for a small amount of players. Theres nowhere near even a couple of thousand. For reference Indonesia is the smallest server population with 35k players.

The best candidate to host Africa servers would be South Africa. Both their economy, and political stability is passable with a sizeable population and is at a good geographical location for players to connect to.

here is south africa i used to play with a constant 199 ms in johannesburg, when i moved to Durban it become 224-235 ms, yet its still playable, i would love an African server but would it even work though? we might have a large player base but its not as large as it is in EUW, NA, Korea, we might be looking at 20 minutes queues at low elo and even an up to an hour queue times in high MMR,

there is a massive player base in Africa, heck i remember one time i saw a rAge tournament for LoL, i remember a company setting up a tournament in the games earlier days, i think it was Telkom and my brother used to participate in university tournaments so we have the players but is it enough for the server to be healthy??

How about we give them fellas some water and food? I'm an EUNE player too, i am seeing africans often, but only people from northern africa, mainly Egypt. That wouldn't be worth it at all

And now, im sitting here and reading your comments, and see that OP said "let's hope devs see this". My guy, do you even know what a server is ? You think they just open "SERVERS.EXE" file and just select "AFRICA: ONLINE"? That one server costs more than your parents yearly salary, so does the maintenance of that same server. Type on google "Server" and see what it actually is. It's not a magic thing that is in sky, it's a bunch of big ass powerful computers that work 24/7 and make a HUGE ASS electricity bill. Just type "How much does a server cost", and you all will see why there is not and why there WILL NOT be an African server in any distant future. Well, that is, if they don't stop living in tribes and killing each other over a bull's head.
