MMR System and Elo

Can anyone tell me how elo works? i know about mmr but how is mmr related to elo? And also i didnt play a single ranked games yet...am i going to be any elo at all? And also if it is like mmr? Then how much elo is considered good?

MMR is the new elo. Back in the first seasons your rank was determined by your elo...Gold V for example was 1500 elo IIRC. But Riot removed the visible elo and turned it into "mmr" which is invisible and you can never tell your exact mmr (you can estimate it by the ranks of the people you get matched with). If you have never played a single ranked game your normal game mmr will determine the rank of your opponents in your placements. I don't know what is considered good...but since about 70% of all players are Bronze or Silver I guess Gold V (1500 elo/mmr) is "good" but then again it is super easy to get Gold V. Challenger Elo begins at 2900.
