Mordekaiser tips?

So I just picked up Mordekaiser as one of my top laners and am really starting to really like him as a champion and am thinking about maining him. However, I have no idea how to really build or play him. My main questions are

What masteries do you bring? ( I see Stormraider's Surge being used, but Grasp sounds really good on paper.)
What do you build, why, and when? (I know Ryali's is a must, but are there some items you should consider rushing in a losing lane?)
What kind of champions counter The Iron Revenant. (I know range does, but what other characteristics should I look for before picking Morde into my lane opponent?)

If anyone can give me some tips on playing this guy, It would be much appreciated

Hey, glad to see someone wanting to pick up my favorite champ!

1: Masteries There are three options theoretically speaking: Grasp, Stormraiders and Deathfire touch (And SoTA if you're Jungle) While Stormraiders provides a good solution to Morde's kiting issues its use falls short if you don't manage to get into melee range to begin with.

This is why I personally prefer taking Grasp since it synergies with the tanky build I'm using. It also provides significant trading power and sustain, which is always nice to have.

2:Rylais is core, period. From there I prefer a Hybrid build that also focuses on great defensive capabilities. Try something along the lines of this: item 3116 item 3053 item 3146 item 3742 item 3065 The Gunblade, SV combo is extremely potent and SV does also improve your Grasp. Both items are getting buffed next patch anyways^^

3: Morde is countered by mobility and range, period. Early game bullies do give him a hard time if they manage to abuse Morde's abysmally low base armor (Wukong with his armor shred can be very tough if he actually abuses your early game) Apart from this there aren't many champions that Morde struggles against other than the JUNGLER so get an early Pink ward for your trip bush
