Every single game of League at one point was to some extent fun, fair and about team execution.
And by 'at one point' I mean wayyyyy back in the day. Back in S2 and earlier, and S3 to an extent. Back when 40-minute games were the norm, defensive items were more effective and damage wasn't through the roof.
Assuming all 10 people were playing (keep in mind there were also definitely 4v5 wins), the game used to have everything to do with execution in teamfights and macro wasn't nearly as important. Now it's flipflopped - all that matters now is how well you can farm. Teamfights are all extremely skewed now by how easy it is to deal damage and how much more damage the team that's ahead can do than the team that's behind.
If your team gets one or two kills ahead of the other team now, especially if it's bot lane, it's game over. Long ago the losing team could defend towers and play catch-up. Now, in season 7, by the time you know for sure you're the team is the one that's behind it's all but game over for you.
It's fine that games are shorter. It really is! What's not OK is how hands-off wins and losses are.
Someone can sneeze and cause a victory/defeat; it's no longer only about execution but lack thereof as well. Being bad at League is hilariously more relevant for a team than it ever has been, and by 'bad' I mean one doesn't farm well enough or pay enough attention to botlane, or the enemy laner killed them once. So by 'bad' I generally mean not the best at Hungry Hungry Hippos.
The inherent problem with the lack of skill being much more relevant is that teamwork is never at the forefront of that issue. What's botlane supposed to do when top and mid feed and the game is over? What's top and mid supposed to do when bot feeds and the game is over? When will execution ever be a relevant factor in those games, let alone team execution?
That's what I don't want to see still be the main problem when season 8 comes around. If Riot would make it a priority for team play to be brought back into this game it would make me a happy summoner, shorter games or no. Cheers!
