Recommend top laner and/or ADC

Xinotine·5/27/2015, 1:05:40 PM·1 votes·751 views

I'm lacking top laners, currenlty only owning Irelia and Lissandra, but none of top laners feel inspiring by first impression, so I would apprechiate some recommendations that go beyond than that. Top laner should be relatively easy to pick up since I play top only when I have to.

Then ADC, I more or less main that (or main Vayne), however I don't own that many champs of that role. I've been considering Jinx but she isn't really that interesting mechanically. As low tier player I propabky shoudlnt play mechanically challenging champs but I just find them a lot more rewarding than simpler ones, and in the end, play what you enjoy right? So some mechanically interesting ADC for matchups where Vayne is sub-optimal, someone different than Vayne.

Thanks for help if someone bother :)

Hey Xinotine, So You're looking for some new champs to try out. I don't know how experienced you are, but here are some suggestions for everyone.

Top Lane: Garen. He isn't very difficult, wins most lane matchups, and is pretty tanky to help out his team in teamfights. Overall a well rounded champion, perfect for someone that doesn't "main" toplane, but plays there occasionally. Cassiopeia. Now she is not very popular top lane, and isn't what you might think of as a top laner, but she is incredibly strong. I noticed that you said you find mechanically intensive champions rewarding, well, you won't get much more rewarded than this. Quite possibly the most mechanic intensive mage, perhaps even more than Azir, she has a gigantic skill ceiling.

ADC: Kalista. Kalista is extremely similar to Vayne, having the characteristic short range, auto-ing being the main damage source, and a similar build path. She's pretty hard to master, and requires you to be alert for good ulting oppertunities. Unlike Vayne, she has a pretty good laning phase, and with a support that understands Kalista's W passive(If she and her support attack the same target, a huge 12% max health proc triggers), then you won't have many bad matchups. Also unlike Vayne, her late game isn't the best, as her short range and susceptibility to CC has you having to constantly reevaluate your positioning. Over all, a good champion, and the one that I play most currently.

I hope this has helped you out! - Darkshade24 :)

It all depends what you are looking for in a top laner. Do you like splitpushing? Then I would recommend Tryndamere. Do you like to snowball the crap out of your lane? Then I would recommend Rengar. If you want a wellrounded top laner, then they have to be able to do a number of things.

  1. They have to be able to build damage or tanky given the situation and be useful when built either way.
  2. Generally, a good top laner will need good early game to mid game, because you are the most self sufficient lane since you are so far away from the rest of the team. This is why making sure you keep up a very high farm count is possibly 2nd or 3rd most important to top laners even when compared to other lanes, because they have to make sure they remain relevant throughout the game and junglers don't usually waste their time helping you as much as the other laners.
  3. The best top laners have good global pressure through summoner 12 ganks etc.
  4. Lastly, they have to be interactive and fun to play as and against. This is subjective of course, so I can't tell you who you wanna play as.

With all of this in mind I like Renekton and Hecarim right now as top laners. They are very strong early to mid game, make very decent tanks. They are also very good at trading/outplaying the other top laners when played correctly. Not to mention pony homeguard teleports are insanely strong and make the enemy botlaners cry.

I basically main top, so if you're looking for good top laners that are easy to pick up and play if you are forced into the role:

Darius Pretty infamously a pub stomper, and for good reason. Darius' greatest strength is probably the fact that he's a fairly hard champion to counter, especially when you can play him fairly well (Teemo counters Darius? Nonsense!). Mechanically he's very simple and, no joke, at low ELOs in ranked this fucker is like a tactical nuke. They just don't know how to deal with a competent Darius player. After a rocky losing streak in ranked, I'm starting to successfully use him to climb in ranked.

Garen Similar to Darius, but with less kill potential and more durability. Is tanky, deals good damage, simple mechanically, and fairly fun to play. Good choice for top lane if you don't want to main it.

Renekton The God Croc is innately tanky, a huge lane bully, and deals great damage for a tank. Like the other two, he's fairly simple to play as well.

Singed Your team lacking in tankiness and magic damage? Look no further! Singed is hilariously fun to play. Though he is mechanically simple, he requires a fundamentally different mindset than other champions. Things that would get another champion killed are a GOOD IDEA as Singed. If neither your laning opponent or the jungler can effectively lock you down, by all means, go past the enemy turret and proxy farm that shit.

Tryndamere The king of splitpushing. Simple mechanically, but actually bringing out his full potential is a bit more complicated. Generally, don't pick him if you already have a champion that relies on splitpushing to be effective, like Shaco.

Sion Other than landing his ult, he's pretty simple to play. He's an effective bully against some enemy laners, and scales very well by virtue of becoming invincible. Keep in mind that he's team reliant though, and unless you dominate lane it will be hard to carry the game solo.

Nasus You main ADC, so presumably you're competent at last-hitting. With this champion, that's all you need to do for most of laning phase. You like playing one hyper carry, might as well try another.

Most of these champs are fairly simple to play (keep in mind that simplicity of play does not mean it's easy to win with them), so I'd recommend them for someone who just wants a top laner that is easy to pick up and play.

As for ADCs... Idk, Draven?

do you play "the devil" teemo? XD top and bot lanes are his thing and he totally messes with your opponents, not to mention his famous hidden passive taunt XD

Ezreal Lucian Tristana these are my personal fav adcs

I rarely ever adc, because I don't like the fact that I am relying on someone else to babysit me lol. However, if you want a fairly safe pick for an adc I would go Jinx or Corki both of them can outrange most other adc, due to their abilities and can safely poke people thanks to their kits. Take in mind that a jinx that gets behind is near useless and that corki's late game is rather bleh in comparison to others.

Thanks for suggestions ! :)

I edes up getting Jinx just to have a versatile ADC for many matchups. She is boring but easy so no need to invest so much time to her.

I'm also thinking about Quinn. She can ADC and top, 2in1 right? :D

I also bough Cassio and Garen.

FantasySniper5/27/2015, 7:56:26 PM1 votes

Lucian Ezreal Sivir sound like good ones for you.

insaiyanbacca5/27/2015, 7:59:18 PM1 votes

personally for adc i'd pick up draven but thats kinda iffy jinx would be a solid pick, as for top i personally prefer singed or renek but darius could also be a good pick up there

Tyrone Lannister5/27/2015, 1:21:06 PM1 votes

Well you can never go wrong with tanky top laners like mundo or maokai. They're usually safe picks. Cho gath is another top laner that's really safe and is stupidly good at the moment. As for adc, jinx is very powerful right now. She will be getting an attack speed nerf next patch, but really it won't change much. From what ive heard, new ashe isnt that bad and the slow passive is pretty godlike. Another adc id recommend would be lucian. This guy is the most consistent of adc and doesn't really have a weak phase in the game unlike vayne or varus. Hope this helped :3

As far as a top champ goes, picking Vayne into a lot of melees is actually quite viable top. You build Bork and randuins for kites all day. ADCS as general rule aren't complicated. Try Ezreal, Kog'maw, or Quinn if you want to do something a little more complicated.

Kog he's good in meta and does well vs vayne
