How to not die to talon as Veigar
I did not even attempt to push yet I ended up dying and losing out on farm while he roamed freely to get fed. I just want to deny him kills but really I can't see what I was doing wrong there.

You're a veigar, there's literally nothing you can really do against him, that's part of his counterplay. You're weak to assassins/mobility and people that can dive you
well laning against talon(current S+ tier) as a veigar is almost automatically a death sentence. I'd recommend banning him or choosing a different champion for teh time being. i hear orianna's pretty good right about now. veigar's E is too slow to deter assasins like talon. he just counters you, the best you can do is keep up on exp, halp your team track his roams and safely scale into lategame where veigar massively outshines limpdick assasins like talon. I'd recommend rushing , the holy weapon of countering assasins. dont hestitate to buy a stopwatch too.

Laning pattern:
Ideally, talon wants to W,Q instead of Q,W. Stand to the side of the minion wave, so talon has to decide whether to push or go for a trade. If he goes for the minions, then you have a few seconds to harass so he doesn't hard shove. If he attempts to trade with you, be far enough that the w doesnt retract for damage and then W the melee creeps so he can only slow push. If you auto him then walk away, then he will most likely not get the 2nd proc, or he has to flash to get Q. Drop W on top of low minions because he might autopath to these to last hit. It's generally best to play conservatively, but to not actually just "give up" lane. You don't want him to shove and roam, so get as many stacks on him as you can without being in risk of getting hit with W. If you're at half health or lower, just treat him like Zed and just base immediately.
You can either go for a lost chapter back or a seekers back, but due to the nature of Veigar's scaling, going seekers is not as much of a sacrifice compared to other mages
Laugh at mid game when he stops the one shot you and you start the one shot on him. As long as you just play it real safe and call out mia you should keep him manageable until you hit your stride.
