Why Increasing Punishment for Afks Won't Solve Anything

It's a simple reason. Most afkers don't do it on purpose. There are very few people that truly afk on purpose and those people are usually banned very quickly. However, most afks come from the occasional internet death or power outage. Riot really can't do anything about that, and I doubt the person affected is happy about it either. If they increased the punishment, it would hurt the majority of afkers who are already gloomy about losing a game because of a power outage or something more than it would hurt the minority of ragers.

When you AFK, you are hurting your team whether it's on purpose or not, so there must be a punishment for it. The punishment is really light though, if you don't do it often, so it's very forgiving to those who DC due to a power outage or whatnot, and more strict on those who do it consistently on purpose. However, if you DC consistently because of something you can't control, you are still accountable because you need to take steps to avoid it.

That's true. And if you don't AFK frequently you won't get punished.

while i do agree that power/internet afks cant be avoided and suck, if stronger punishments make players who might afk decide to stay instead then i'm calling it worth.
