Orianna : Bug or Intended ?

First of all, sorry for my english !
So as a main Orianna
, i obviously play her a lot and there is someting that happened to me many times but i never got the motivation to check if it was missplay from me or just a bug. (ig it was feeling always like a bug x) )
So today, i did a game with a Kayn
and sadly he pressed R when i just e'ed him and r... The ball went back to me and the utimate... well u guessed right... MOWED THE RIFT.
My question is simple, in my opinion, this situation should be affected by one of this patchs (following), but maybe i'm wrong :
v7.6 The one-liner below is a one-stop ‘fix’ to a few bugs that occurred when an ally holding the Ball died (more specifically, when the Ball returned to Orianna immediately after). Unintended benefit of ditching the bugged mechanic entirely: one less case of accidentally ulting yourself!
Command Protect.png E - Command: Protect STAY! : If an ally dies while holding the Ball, it now drops in place rather than returning to Orianna
v5.11 R's lock-out on snapping back to Orianna slightly increased.
"Before y'all get into a fit about Orianna being nerfed, this one's actually pretty simple: this increased cooldown only affects Shockwave when the ball returns to Ori as a result of out-ranging it, meaning you're less likely to accidentally ult on top of yourself when you don't mean to. When casting Command: Protect on yourself (or simply walking over the ball to pick it up), there's no change. Huzzah! Context! What do you think guys ? Should it be fixed ? Wich one should be used ? (i think It also happen when Shaco
press R when he got the ball on him and with maybe other champions that i dont have in mind for the moment)
