About These Taliyah Changes...

I don't know how to feel about them. In general, it looks like a good change to her w, but I think it's going to be a swift kick to not only her damage but the people that actually play her, because_ they already know_ how to work around her current w and know how to use it; isn't changing it for "ease of use" contradictory because those that already play her know how to use her w effectively, and changing it would make them just need to relearn a really important spell of her kit? Also, it seems a bit unfair that they're hitting her ability to counter mobile mid laners because she will gain the ability to e + w combo people, which in my opinion isn't even needed.

All that I'm getting from these changes is that they're trying to "help" Taliyah and the players, but in reality it's just going to be harming way more than helping. I don't mean to sound condescending, but can anybody help me figure out these changes?

I think there looking at the longevity of Taliyah. Yeah it might mess up some taliyah players, even I play her a good amount. But I feel like this change will overall make things better and her pick rate will hopefully be higher then the 5% its at right now. I dont like that fact that there gonna nerf her E a little now but at the sametme i could understand why they would want to make sure that she doesnt become overpowered. But i think in the long run theyll put the damage back on her E and the new change will go much better (:

isn't changing it for "ease of use" contradictory because those that already play her know how to use her w effectively,

The disadvantages of changing the cast paradigm will be temporary for experienced players. The disadvantages for leaving the cast paradigm the way it is are not temporary.

She's still a new and relatively unplayed champion. If she becomes easier to learn by having a friendlier and less frustrating cast pattern, there is a good justification for changing it. Experienced players will have a short annoyance, and then they will adapt. The W cast paradigm was an experiment, to try and make it easier to learn and more fun to use. It failed spectacularly in that goal. The sooner we change it, the sooner the problem completely goes away.

All that I'm getting from these changes is that they're trying to "help" Taliyah and the players,

That's not the only intention. They're trying to make her easier to learn, and they're trying to lower the frustration that the casting-lockout imposed, but they're also trying to make her a bit weaker. She is currently doing almost unbelievably well in the hands of experienced players. She's overpowered right now. That's a big part of why she is losing E damage. She'd likely need that change regardless of the cast paradigm.

You should prepare for nerfs in the coming patches. We have some very dedicated Taliyah mains working hard to prove she deserves them.

There was a whole thread about this from the guy who made her. He said the lockout was intended to give her a momentary decline to her burst and encourage careful planning of W - however, he stated that the whole problem surfaced because League isn't a game about careful planning when it comes to casting your spells at champs due to the fast paced action, so that was one reason why it was changed. He also stated that it was a factor of frustration for people using her. His reason for the E nerf, aside from her high winrate for those experienced with her, was that since her kit was becoming more fluid, her damage and burst potential needed to be cut back, since she's not designed to be a burst mage, and instead supposed to be a zoning disruption mage.
