Spectating vs Streaming - Why is this allowed?

When you want to spectate a game in the league client, there's a delay of 3 minutes to prevent "cheating".

But when it comes to streaming, there's a delay of at least 30 seconds.

So why is it ok for people to stream league games with a delay of 30 seconds? compared to the league client where it's 3 minutes?

This confuses me. Especially how much of a burden league streamers can be when the enemy team is watching the stream, only to be looking at the map knowing where the wards are placed and the spawn of monsters. Even if the map were to be covered, the location of wards are visible. Isn't this also classified as "cheating"?

The term is called "stream sniping". I forgot to add that not only will the enemy see the location of wards and spawn of monsters, but the location of the jungler or any other champion.

I would really love a Rioter to pitch in their thoughts and opinion about this.

You can add longer delays to streams.

In any case, when someone streams something, it's their own initiative to broadcast their gameplay, and any possibility of ghosting is on their account.

Spectating on the other hand is done from Riot with no control from the player, so there is a preset rule.
