Hecarim Useless Now?

I really enjoy playing Hecarim but I feel now he's not that good anymore. If I build him tanky, he has no clear in this new jungle; if I build damage, I take too much at early levels and cannot utilize how effective his early ganks use to be. Plus an ult with a 1 second fear? Mercury treads make it useless, if it isn't already.

Final note, and my main concern; Rek'Sai has better movement, clear, sustain, AOE, and dmg output/tankiness (depending on what you build) than Hecarim. Why play Hecarim when there is Rek'Sai

I try not to lose hope in the new jungle as I play , but every time I do I'm asking myself why I'm playing him.

...Or perhaps I'm terrible, in which case, any ideas?

He is really good. But at higher skill levels there is too much peel for him to effectively kill a target. Try him top lane, his Q will not aggro minions if you use it on enemy champions.

He sucks in the jungle now.

Apparently the pro's consider him a good Zed counter pick in mid which most likely keep him from being buffed as he is supposed to...

why play hecarim when there is rammus cuz rammus has higher ban rates

why play hecarim when there is rek sai cuz shes a new champion and no one wants to see her in ranked and will ban her

however hecarim does have an arguable superior ult than both of them and his robot unicorn demon donkey skin thing is the best skin in the world
