League's Division Point Scaling

Can someone please explain to me why the hell Riot thought it was ok to have you win 2-3 games in a row, then lose one and suddenly get chunked the 20-25 LP you just spent 2 hours working up. It's absurd, and I'm getting really sick of it because its impossible to climb... And before you say otherwise, unless you can carry your team through DC's, AFK's, People having bad games and the rest of it, for a consecutive 8-14 matches. You're not moving up a division never mind a rank.

Some sort of explanation would be grand?

And im fine with not really going anywhere if Im not good enough I wouldn't want to drag down a team, but 10 LP fror winning and 24 for losing is just **********************. There's something in those asterisks but im not sure what...
