Invasion made me remember the worst thing about older games

Why the hell do I have to do lvl 1 over and over again whenever I lose to the boss?

I understand why it's there, but damn is it anoying to play the first 5-10 minutes again and again only to lose to the boss or the second to last level in the dumb escort mission.
