Could we create a buildpatch for Master Yi's Alpha Strike?
Ok so right now, he is in a position where you first need a few items to turn from a squishy with bruiser-damage into a bruiser with assassin-damage. This is achieved by building either on-hit, crit or a mix of both and add some tank-items to that so he can jump onto the enemy and deal huge amounts of damage with his insane attack speed, his passive and an active Wuju Style.
All fine, if that's the champion one wants to play then he does that great and is pretty unique in what he does. But my personal problem with it is that I loved to play him when Ap Master Yi was still a thing and back then, his Alpha Strike felt so rewarding! He was what made me really get into LoL back then and I got my first of many skins for him. You know these samurai move scenes in which he just dashes through the enemy in a blink of a second and then after a short delay his enemies head just falls off or a huge wound is opening? THAT's what it felt like^
Now don't get me wrong, Ap Yi was cancerous as hell, I understand the actions taken back then. It's just that since that I've always tried to find a build that gives me that kinda of feeling again. I've tried stacking pure Ad, I've tried going for Ad/Crit items, I've tried going for Trinity Force and hoped the Q>>AA would feel like that kind of burst again, nothing rly worked out. Back when Infinity Edge was still a 80Ad/25%Crit and I got super fed once I even was desperate enough to go for 4 Infinity Edges for the theoretical highest damage on his Q. I still destroyed them due to my insane AAs, but even then Alpha Strike was mostly just a useful as a gapcloser and for dodging stuff.
Now I'm not asking you to give me back my 100% Ap ratio on it or anything like that, I just wish there were a way to build him that relies on damaging the enemies with his Q. There would be some ways for it. For example, the Ad scaling could be increased. If it's turned into bonus Ad scaling and/or the Crit scaling is taken away it shouldn't buff on-hit Yi or Crit Yi at all, while also not hurting them.
Another way would be to give it an Ap scaling again. Maybe 70% or something like that. I'm sure a lot of people have flashbacks now to the old master Yi but a lot changed since then. Back then Lich Bane had a much higher Ap Scaling, giving him the option to take out those who survived his 100% Ap Q. His W had a much higher Ap Scaling too making him almost unkillable and he had another Q right after a single kill, now with his ult there are a few seconds between. I doubt that would make him that strong or even really revive again. All it would do for the serious meta is creating more synergy with the new Rageblade which he doesn't really have right now and if it's too much I and probably a lot of other Yi player would love to give away the W scaling for it.
Just an idea, I'd love to play with his Q as his main damage tool again...
