I really enjoy playing as him, but my friends keep telling me that he's very bad in this meta. I can agree with most things they say, he can't clear camps very fast, he's squishy, and his attacks don't seem as strong as they should be sometimes (that last one is in my own opinion).
Do I just need more practice as him? Or should I try jungling as someone else?
Kha'zix has been weak for quite a while when compared to other assassin or higher damage junglers. And right now in the Cinderhulk tank meta, even the best junglers end up being pushed to mediocre, such as Lee Sin and Nocturne. I would just say that Kha'zix isn't the best right now ever since he was nerfed from being overly strong a while ago. If it works for you, though, then keep playing him. I just don't think he's strong at all.
I wouldn't put Kha'zix in a spotlight anytime soon. The nerfs to him have been abit much, especially with his isolation range. With everything else and the fact that the tank meta can just cc him, he's not looking too well. You can do it if you want, just warning since he's seen alot better days even after a nerf. Last I think, he's expected for maybe a Rengar-style rework but don't quote me on that. Just not sure who I remember seeing that from if at all

Theres really no reason to play anything other then a tank Jungler. They didn't look at hwo strong it made the alreadys trong tanks because they wanted the less played ones to be a bit more popular like Naut and Zac. Feels like those 2 moved to fill in Sejuani's old spot and i guess Voli while those 2 just got even stronger
kha'zix is only good in mid lane atm. if you were to go jungle kha'zix, i recommend running the double jungle like in the lcs for the first little bit
Khazix can work, he's just a much riskier pick now. If you're against a high-cc tank jungler like Sejuani and Nautilus, you will have a bad time. I don't think he's as awful as people are saying here, though; the new Black Cleaver is really good on him. I love playing him, and he takes practice to use properly. If you have trouble clearing, try starting Q but maxing your W; the healing was buffed recently, so that should help. Also try using CDR blues;; i do this for almost all my jungler rune pages.
All other things even, tank junglers are stronger right now, but Khazix isn't a pushover.
