What can I do to get the hell out of silver?

Disabled Support·10/15/2018, 4:40:38 PM·4 votes·3,232 views

Title.. I do really good with Janna Soraka Leona Sona (sometimes) but it feels like no matter what I do my potato adc or jg screws everything up or i get unlucky and get a level 37 / bronze 4 player on my team.. [zombie-nunu-tears] Is it because I don't play "supports"? (Lux Malzahar Brand Fiddlesticks Orianna ) I'm really stumped on what to do, and i'd prefer not to learn a new role because i love this role, but i'm having a hard time getting the hell out of silver [sg-janna]

I can give you a few suggestions, as a support and enchanter main myself:

Vision: Vision wins games.

I looked through your match history, and saw in some games, you ward quite a bit, but in others you have 1 control ward purchased in an entire 30 minute game. Every back, you should have a control ward on the map, and another in your inventory. Also, I noticed at the end of many of your janna games, you had an incomplete frost queen. If you cannot reliably, as an enchanter support, get your sight stone off frost queen by 15 minutes (at the LATEST), then buy coin. Vision is too important to be that late. If you are having issues here though, its likely you aren't poking with W or auto attacking enough in the first place, but thats a whole other issue. (Lack of auto attacking is the biggest problem I see with most people who play enchanter supports)

Auto attacking/poke:

Lack of auto attacking (with frost queen items) leads you to another problem you're having. . . low income. As an enchanter support, you're only getting gold passively, from objectives, and from auto attacking/poking. You can't buy stuff w/o gold. . . .and since you shouldn't get taking kills, make sure you are always getting hits on towers every chance you get, and on enemy champs when you can do it without dying. Janna is actually a very, very aggressive support champ. . .not a passive shield bot.

Supports make or break games. Vision control.. . objective control, and catching people out (especially with your slow and knock up) can 'turn the tides' of a match. Pro-player Madlife showed the world supports change the game. . .. and FNC Yellowstar, SKT Wolf and many others have proven you can not only carry your carry. . but win games directly off your back.

Good luck out there!

I too am a support main, and I've been struggling to climb too. Unfortunately, your income is almost solely dependent on ADCs, and I've had my fair share of them that have 0% map awareness or even the common sensibility to not recall under the allied turret when the enemy wave is being shoved under it. I have half a mind to start maining Kench so I can actively prevent stupidity from my ADCs.

That said, I've started swapping over to Pyke and have had a bit more success. His aggressive, damage oriented play style tends to do better against a lot of passive opponents, and it seems pretty easy to catch them out and pop them.

Duo seems to be the only way for those of us that are unlucky.

Riots MMR system is so bad its just random.

For each elo you should adjust to a new playstyle. In this case, bronze-silvers is a lot more about teamfights than objectives. Which is why ''supports'' like Brand work so well there. I do not recommend enchancters in low elo outside of Sona. Since they usually deal 0 dmg and rely too much on their team.

There are so many game mechanics that are essential for climbing that are difficult to learn from the support position. The two best roles for learning general game mechanics are jungle and top, where you learn all there is to know about map pressure and wave/lane management, respectively. A good support will know these skills and use them well via effective roaming, better warding, and assisting in wave management, particularly when either ADC is at base.

My suggestion is to watch some YouTube videos on wave management, lane aggression, jungle pathing, and ganking, then play a couple dozen normal games each of Top and Jungle before hopping back into ranked as a support. I’d recommend Nasus for the top lane and Amumu or Vi for the jungle.

Get a good adc to duo with you. An adc who knows how to carry and just keep him alive with janna and soraka. Keep up the good vision so your jg wont invade and die

maybe you should not play support

Get lucky with matchmaking and be a meta-slave, that's literally all you can do.

Hope and pray that the enemy team get tumors so terrible and boosted in the game that they're literally deadbolted to the floor while trying to make sure you're one of the 30 braindead easy hardcarry cancer-champs infesting the game right now due to Riot's incompetent preference: Urgot Irelia Zed Darius Leblanc Yasuo Kaisa etc

I agree with what Kalikko is saying. Vision is super important especially when it comes to tracking jungler movements so you don't fall to ganks. If you're going to play Janna, try getting your boots first. Janna is naturally speedy and the amount of poke you can get off without taking too much damage in return with early Mobi boots can help keep your opponents from farming. You'll also have faster roams to try and snowball your mid laner. I also see you're going into the inspiration tree for your secondary runeset, you may want to try the resolve tree instead. Here is a Janna setup I found and typically use when I play Janna: https://runeforge.gg/loadouts/all-about-them-shields-and-heals/

Good Luck!

Just sharing my experience here:

I used to be a Support main and at some point I felt like you. Then I moved to Top lane and I felt much better and now I kinda have the same feeling. I think I just get tilted after some time playing the same role over and over again. Switching roles from time to time is really helping. In my last 5 or 6 games where I played support, I did pretty well and I was able to see more things than before. Mind you, I'm still a S2 scrub but at least I don't feel as hopeless. Even now, after demoting from S1 to S2 because of 1 loss at 0 LP and then losing two or three games, I'm sure I can make it to Gold if I just stay focused and try my best not to tilt.

Hope this helps
