Question...
Could someone explain the logic to me behind losing more points from a loss, than the amount of points gained from winning? Especially with how unbalanced this game is in ranked play?

Let's say you would gain 20 lp per win and lose 16 per loss. That means over 20 games with a 45% win rate (9W-11L) would result in you gaining 180 lp from your wins and losing 176 from your losses. Despite having more losses than wins you would still net 4 lp and over a large enough number of games would actually end up climbing the ranked ladder. Having a system that would always gives more LP per win than it takes per loss would result in the potential for low win rate players to climb entire divisions without actually winning most of their games. Having a system that punishes losses more harshly than wins are awarded forces players that want to climb to either win more games than they lose or fall below their current ranking.
Additionally the amount of LP you gain/lose is dependent on who your opponents are. If you are losing more LP than you are gaining, than it means you are losing to players who have a significantly lower mmr than you do. Sorry but the game believes you are still a B5 player and until you start consistently winning more games than you lose you will continue to fall. I was at the bottom of bronze three seasons ago, and now I'm making an attempt for plat. Trust me there is a lot you can improve on as a Bronze player, it just takes better decision making and you need to start playing for the sake of becoming better as opposed to just playing for the sake of playing.
The game is also rather consistent in ranked play. A bronze 4 player will probably never have a bronze 1 or silver player in their game. For the most part you'll be playing against players who are roughly the same skill level as you are. Additionally you should start playing easier champions. Easier champions are more consistent from a agame to game basis so putting time into mastering annie, caitlyn, malphite, maokai, or xin zhao will result in a higher win/rate simply because the aforementioned champions and champions that are similar to them are easy to play and will offer a decent award for very little risk.
Thank you for your positive insight... I agree with all of that. I do consider myself at a much higher level than the majority of players I play with though, and have gotten a lot of tips from higher ranked players and learned a lot.
