Could there ever be an Alterac Valley in LoL?

I came over here after years of LoL because I loved the WC3 Dota and had played Battlegrounds in WoW as a pale comparison. I love this game, but my favorite thing about the old WoW BG was the ability to dive in and out (with a 30 min debuff for leaving early) of those battlegrounds.

Is there a way to build something like that into LoL? Even as a side game?
