Becoming bad with one of my main.

I instantly felt in love with Kindred at the very first try on the PBE server. When the champ officially came out, I played him a lot (as a marksman and a jungler) and had good scores. Well, I made people think that I was OP. Sadly, Riot reduced the health regen of W and stuff, but Kindred still an awesome character for me.

But recently, every single game that I play with her, I only do negative scores and make my mates and opponents call me noob. That's truly embarrassing, because it's completely awful to suck with a champ with you're suppose to be great. Agreed ?

So there's the question : is that because this champ is actually freaking bad ? Because I play against my counters ? Hard early game ? Any idea ?

To conclude, becoming less good with a champion is possible or I just have a big problem ?? item 3070

It's just a phase youre in. When someone picks up a champ and starts playing them alot they tend to do a lot better at first, then they hit a period where they start doing poorly and if they play through it they start playing even better than before. It's a cycle of growth you'll go through many times if you continue mastering a champion.

One of the primary reasons for this completely natural slump is that that you get too comfortable and overconfident in your play of your champion. You start pushing the limits of what your champion can do out of boredom, and this will naturally cause you to start failing in the short term as you find those limits - but if you don't push the limits this way you won't grow as a player because you'll be playing too safe all the time and not taking possible game winning opportunities that you would know existed if you did test those limits.

There are other reasons for this slump period but they mostly come down to you being in an awkward place between having ideas for how to take your play to the next level and actually knowing how those ideas pan out. You'll work through them and hit a new level of ability if you keep at it.

The problem is there is no late game anymore, games end fast and champion that can deal a lot of damage mid/early are priviliged

Kindred needs to stack their passive in order to do well later on, but there is no "later on" anymore.

your score is improved (like matches won, kdr etc), so u will match up with the guys with better score than the guys with whom u were matched up. have to change the strategy

If you are trully good with a champion you overcome the weakness of said champion with your personal skill; that's why you still are able to make them work even in their weak state and make them a strong pick for you over one of the other champions with stronger kits/buffs. So even if the champion were to be weak you should still be able to do decent with him, it just takes a tad more practice and effort.

Most likely the good scores you were getting was product of the champion being overpowered states (since riot releases most of their champions like that) and not trully your skill. Once it was balanced/nerfed you true skill with said champion showed and you couldn't keep getting the positive scores. If you trully consider him your main just keep playing him and eventually your skill will compensate for whatever weak state the champion might be in, just bare in mind you will have to pour more effort into it.

I love Kindred and barring a few games where I managed to collect a lot of stacks, it because obvious to me that Kindred's primary problem is that she falls off hard after the laning phase. You can get fed 6-0 but if you don't have enough stacks, you won't be doing shit during teamfights. Kindred's problem is that she is a duelist like a fighter except that unlike fighters, she doesn't typically build bulky. Fighters need to build tanky in order to survive skirmishes and teamfights in the mid to late game. Kindred is squishy so your only choice is to collect a lot of stacks so you do so much damage that the enemy can't kill your squishy ass in time. She only gets good mid to late game with 8+ stacks and a Botrk, otherwise, you're always gonna die much more quickly than the enemy.

I've been thinking about building her like a fighter by mixing up some HP and armor/MR items in her build. Haven't gotten around to testing this yet.

This kind of thing happens with meta shifts. Counters, or just having a bad game in general. For example I've been playing Azir since his release, back before we ever saw him in pro play and he was just considered bad and bugged. He went through nerf after nerf after pros found him strong and his counters also got buffered recently. So I tend to have more bad games on Azir then I use to. Kindred is not nearly as strong as she was when she was first released. She was 100% pick banned in pro play. No one knew how to play around her back then and no one really knew how much damage she could do. Now players are finding a way to play around it and yeah there have been some nerfs. It's just all about adapting, if you wanna continue to do good on that champion you have to adapt to a different play style as the meta changes. Strategies you use to use with Kindred might not be as viable anymore.

its not just you bro i main udyr, and about every 100 or so games i go through a slump of about 20 games where my winrate is crap, even though my overall winrate with him hovers around 60%, some days i go 80% others around 40%, but each time i get through those 30ish bad games back to back i come out of it a little bit better, better mechanics, better overall gameplay but it is a very slow process, but ya i didnt start playing udyr till about last 2 weeks of Season 5, i went from low silver up too upper gold, keep at it you will improve!!

Generally, it takes a lot of practice to get into a champ's kit. You just need some time to adjust. Try doing jungle clears in custom games.

I also have some questions for you.

  1. Are you good at kiting?
  2. Do you invade/gank at the wrong time?
  3. Are you playing on tilt (are you unhappy or dissatisfied before you play?)
  4. Who are prioritizing to gank?
  5. Is team comp a problem? (IE: Too many squishies, no hard CC, no engage)
  6. Did you stay in your ult field?

Sure they can dish out the damage but if they get stunned once during that team fight they're going to die. They also deal damage a bit slower than most ADCs and junglers.

Becoming comfortable is what I would think. I mix up what champs I play because I become so confident it's borderline arrogance.
