STILL at an impass with support gold items
Like, I honestly hope Riot isn't thinking to themselves that they "fixed" coin by lowering mana gain by a measly 5%. Support gold items are still horribly unbalanced.
Why? It's simple. The main weakness of the support role is that you DON'T get much gold, right? Ancient Coin, however, gets massive amounts of gold in comparison to its alternative picks. Outside of a few cases and scenarios, there's very little room to justify being an item and a half behind where you could be just because you want a cute little speed boost or a shield. With coin, I can regularly outcash my fellow teammates, sometimes nearing the most gold in the game. This was largely impossible before now, and it's still impossible if one uses STE or Relic Shield.
With this laid out, we've reached a fork in the road. We can either work around a new standard for support gold generation and buff the other two items so they can compete with that, or we can admit that getting like 2k to 3k off of this one item per match is blatantly ridiculous and needs to be addressed. Either way, Ancient Coin is a MASSIVE outlier out of the three items at the moment. The question is what's going to be done about it?
