New players and this new match making system :/ (DQ rant)

My friend **Nick **wanted to play league, he had heard me talking about it with my other friends and really wanted to know why we loved this game. At the time that he asked me it was around when we didn't have after school practice so he makes an account and primarly plays bot games.

Now today nick wanted to play pvp and since we live close to each other i went to his house, we opened league waited for it to patch and hopped right into a game. Now even though he doesn't play vs people he _does _ know how the game works, he constantly watches youtubers like phylol and also twitch streams, lcs. He actually knows almost every member of NA teams and i being a one year player dont even know the full clg roster..

The problem however is when he loads up the loading screen, i really couldn't believe my eyes. Some way some how we got paired with a gold player.. as a level 20, now get into game i asked the gold player if hes duoing and he said he is, now the problem with this is that the enemy team didn't get their own similar mmr based player all they got was one level 18 with a keystone mastery and it was the support so it virtually didn't matter. He wins the game because the Vik just runs through their whole team with his friend.

So you might say, whats the problem here OP your friend wins and everyone's happy. **NO ** because im pretty sure that enemy team did not have a good time getting completely train wrecked by a gold 1 viktor main. Not only does this suck for them, but it doesn't help the people on Nicks team because they're being carried and being carried is fine when your level 30, but if you cant learn the fundamentals to see what mistakes you do then you're never going to grow.

The game ends, and i tell him to re queue, now keep in mind I'm not playing for him I'm just physically sitting by him and giving him pointers for items, I'm also not being his "2nd" eye as if to tell him where x champion is on the map.

Now he gets into the next game and it starts, now i skim over the loading screen this time and they almost all have champion mastery vs his team who only has 2.. So i tell him not to sweat and to just play, it wont be the winning factor. Now side note, this game ill take responsibility on because i should have told him to wait 15~ minutes so he doesn't get queue with that duo or against them again, but i figured what are the odds right ?

So he gets into the game and he starts playing, its the duo from last game but this time on his opposing team now everything starts to play and this time i had to actually start being his 2nd eye because this kindred played like someone who had pretty good game knowledge, i told him about the marks and to take them. Unfortunately the garen was playing like a new player, we all did he was csing OK but trading with yasuo a bit more, yasuo killed him twice and snowballed. This wasn't a problem until everyone on Nicks team started to just flame each other so i told him to mute the chat once the bot lane started to blame Nick for dying, and for the first time i don't blame his teams frustration because the enemy team was doing rotations like you'd see in silver-gold, the mid and jungle collapse was just painful to watch because Nick or their bot lane didn't have the experience yet to know how to deal with it until he finally lost.

My friend told me he doesn't want to play the game unless he plays with us. So basically this is what this game has come down to, you either play with friends or you don't play at all..

Sure you _can _say that it was just two bad games, but if you think about it unless you are a die hard fan of a certain game company's games losing twice as a new guy **ISNT **what will draw you back to the game, and league doesn't have that component it did when i started, you don't wake up and think " YEA I WANNA PLAY LEAGUE AND GET CLOSER TO GETTING X CHAMPION" its more like "yeah ill play that game, or maybe ill do something else meh"
