An alternative to the Critical Hit ADC buffs forthcoming

The forums seems to perceive two related problems at the core of Critical Hit ADCs being largely unplayable in competitive play:

  1. They do not hit their power spikes quickly enough (after definitely hitting them too early for far too many patches)
  2. The meta increasingly favors early game champions, with games being shorter and decided much more quickly than players seem to desire.

Late-game, full-build Twitch, Vayne, Jinx, and Tristana still are monsters, but these champions fall so far behind in the early and mid game that they never have that opportunity. While by design they need to have a week laning phase to avoid overpowering them, either their early games are too weak or their mid-game doesn't come quickly enough.

I would like to hear whether Riot and players see these same issues as plaguing other late game champions besides the Crit ADCs. No need to be specific, but do others see this as a problem for scaling champions in general? I see other crit scalers (see: Tryndamere) and scaling mages (see: Azir, Ryze, Cass, Veigar) as suffering notably while some others are not for various reasons.

For convenience, I'll break them down into the following with quick thoughts:

  • Mages: Kayle, Veigar, Azir, Ryze, Cassiopeia

Puzzlingly, Kayle is doing really well - probably due to the decline of tanks. Azir and Ryze have abysmal win rates in Plat+ while Veigar and Cass have about 50% win rate. That being said, the indirect buffs to assassins make these champions likely have high variance. Non-tear users have been hit particularly hard by mana changes.

  • Non-Crit Late Game ADC: KogMaw

Given the rise of true damage, he's a niche pick against tanks and bruisers. About 50% win rate, so pretty good - but likely because teams play around him.

  • Bruisers: Jax, Nasus, Tryndamere

Jax doing a little too well arguably with Ginsoos and Conqueror. Nasus around 48% win rate in Plat+. He's such a non-interactive lane that I'd argue that champion is not helpful for the game as-is. Tryndamere doing terribly due to crit changes and increasing prevalence of crowd control on new champions - Riot will buff.

  • Misc: Yasuo, Shyvana, Gangplank

No thoughts in particular.
