Still confused why we can't stop knock ups

It's kinda silly that we can't /(/ if you wanna be like that) knock ups. It makes some champion's cc better for no real reason other than what looks to be thematics.

Is it because displacement abilities move you somewhere and they wouldn't be able to judge where you land if you just cleansed it or what?
