What to do when you, or someone else is having a bad game?

There is 2 questions here. When you are having a bad game, what do you do? If the score is 20-35 and you have been pushed more than you have been pushing, what do you do as someone who may be getting countered? Do you rage? DC? Go AFK? Try to rally your team? Give advice and support, or allow yourself to play more passive, but suffer from a loss of engagement?

If you are in a game when someone is doing unbelievably bad, as we all have been, what do you do about that? You can't force someone to play different or do better. You can give them advice. You can try to stick with them, but sometimes the other team is to good.

I'm really interested to hear how you guys change your losing games around for wins. If you have yet to get a dragon, do you focus trying to get the dragon before the other team, or do you sacrifice the additional help from drag for pushing/defending? Personally, I find it extremely annoying when your team is down, but manages to ace, and then half the team runs right to baron or drag, while the other half is trying to push. What do you think is the better choice? I have seen to many games lost by teammates arguing about whether to push turrets/inhibs or get baron, only to have the enemy team respawn and hunt down your entire team while you have yet to push or get the baron.

When you are losing, farm. THIS IS FOR LANING PHASE ONLY. If you are behind 35 minutes in, DO NOT DIRECT PEOPLE TO LANES TO FARM!!!!!

I see this way too often on my smurf. I dont see why people are able to die so much early... In diamond games people are xonsidered "behind" if they have 15 less minions or 1 kill less than their lane opponent.

If an ally is feeding, you need to rush to their lane. I like top jg and mid because it is fairly easy to do this. Mid and jungle are obvious, but top can tp bot or roam mid for kills. Getting an ally a kill without making them low health/low mana is the BEST way to help them come back imo. This will force them to push, getting free creeps and possibly a free turret.

When I'm behind, I tend to play passively, and try to defend my lane as long as possible, and when the enemy leaves lane for a gank, I make sure to ping the **** out of the lane he is likely headed to. Then try to take his tower while he's gone.

When an ally is behind, I'll say something in chat like "Having a bad game huh?" and then assure him that we will come gank for him, or he should just let his lane fall and we will pick up his slack in the late game.

I believe I heard from a pro player once, there is an order to the priority of objectives. I think this is what he said:

Inhib > Tower > Baron > Dragon > Player Kill > Red/Blue Buff > Scuttle Crab

Of course, if a dangerous opponent is going to be alive in time to stop your team from taking an inhib or tower, then you need to do baron or dragon instead.

Well I will start by saying some games are just unwinnable no matter what you do. Whether it be the other team outpicked you hard enough that you can't do much to outplay them or the enemy team is so far ahead there is no coming back.

With that said to answer the first of your 3 questions when I am playing badly I tend to play very passively and hope the enemy makes a mistake or my team does well enough to help me back into it. There is no point in saying "I am 0-3 and down 25 CS but I still have to try to take this lane back, I have to carry!!!" because then the enemy laner will just get more and more fed making it harder for your team to carry. It is best to just try to farm up however you can and hope your team can pick up the slack.

When someone on your team is doing bad there is not much you can do. You can try to tell them to play safe and give them advice but they may not listen or may get frustrated with someone else constantly trying to tell them what to do. What I have found to work best is basically say nothing to them other than praising them for making a good play or doing something well. This will help them focus more on the good things they are doing and slowly stop tilting.

The biggest thing to do when trying to turn a game around is capitalize on your opponents mistakes and do whatever you can to hurt the enemy team and help yours the most. If you kill their top, jungle and support and they have 4 drags then go take drag to delay the opportunity to get 5 then look to baron if you have the time. When it comes to getting an Ace on the enemy team it is hard to say whether pushing or doing baron is better because it depends on the situation. If the death timers are low and you may not be able to push into their base then look to grab baron since they will have a harder time defending it. If you Ace them but your team is low on health, look to push in and take some towers where you can. Sometimes you will be unable to do either of those things then simply taking the enemy buffs is something extra to look for after a good fight.

The most important thing when trying to figure out objectives is to try to shot call but if your team won't listen it is better to do what the majority of your team wants to do. If taking their inhib is the best call but 3 of your teammates are running baron, then go take baron because it will always be better to work as a team in solo queue than have everyone doing different things because then it will lead to a situation like you said where your team is so indecisive that you get no objectives before the enemy team respawns.

i dont care if others are at a bad matchup or bad luck and are losing their lanes; but moment it happens to me i get ripped into by people.

People need to learn that raging and verbally abusing someone ISNT gonna help any.

I struggle with this as well. In a lot of my games I end up doing the most damage or winning my lane, even when countered, but I try to help out someone who was losing theirs and end up losing my lead badly. If you've won your lane, then you should protect that lead as much as you can. Vision on the map is crucial for this, so encourage each one of your teammates to upgrade their trinkets and ward. Put pressure on lanes, but don't go over board because you'll more than likely make a mistake. The idea is that you're putting so much pressure on one lane, that the enemy is forced to focus on you. This gives your teammates some time to catch up. Unfortunately for me, sometimes I forget that I'm the focus. I'm working on being prepared when enemies come to shut me down.

I've noticed that when I focus less on dueling, and more on the towers, I win more games. My KDA might not be fabulous, but winning is more important. If you're getting camped by the enemy jungler, or getting no ganks, then I would say fall back. It's better to lose a tower than your life and a tower. It's so hard to remember that, but you'll thank yourself so much later in the game when you do this.

If your team is down in kills, then I think it's better to avoid team fighting for a while if you can. I've lost a lot of games lately because it's 23 to 30, and people want to fight. Trust your instincts. If you feel like a fight is going to end in your whole team getting aced, then don't go along with it. It's so much better to be alive than seeing your champion's body on the rift regretting listening to your aggressive toxic teammate. This situation is probably the hardest of all to deal with for me. Someone always strong arms me into fighting with them, or going for dragon when we know it can end badly. Don't do it! You should always hear your teammates out, but make sure to trust yourself as well. I wish people told me that more when I started playing ranked a week ago. It's so easy to get caught up on that non sense.

The other important thing to remind yourself is that the nexus matters more than anything. So towers/inhibitors > everything else. Also the sooner you realize everyone has bad games, the better. Encouragement is better than some snotty comment towards others.

All very solid points. I honestly can't deny it, while I try NOT to do it, I have days where I might lose 2 or 3 in a row, get into the 4th and see that 5 minutes in a lane has 4 deaths and is getting blown out, and then I get really mad. Obviously it does nothing but I struggle with the anger so much at times. After reading everything, I think I'm going to start roaming a lot more when winning lanes, or even TPing bot if I'm top like Snowball said. I tend to focus wayyy to much on my own lane regardless if I am winning or losing. I main Aatrox top, and normally I can win lane even against counters like Tryndamere or Jax, but I really don't recall a time I've gone mid to help. I know when I mid, and my top laner comes down for a gank, it is like a god sent feeling when you have someone come down and help you get a kill.

Some games definitely are unwinnable from the start like Dedrius said. It is such a frustrating feeling, but the truth. I love to jungle, but always have such a hard time picking which lanes to gank, and if I should even try ganking it. I feel like jungle is one of those roles that can make or break a game. Camping a lane like bot will draw a lot of attention to it and backfire, but it can also work really well.

Regardless, all the feedback was much needed. I've always heard Aatrox has a beautiful nac for getting a kill top and then going to mid and getting another kill/assist there. I will definitely need to work on that. Thanks!

If Im having a bad game, I start focusing on not dying, getting gold, and trying to help my teamates to not die. If you can stop the bleeding and still offer something to your team it can turn out okay. Make yourself carry-able. If someone is having a bad game, I might say be more careful, but really you just have to carry the person. Telling them their mistakes or telling them how to play generally just make it worse, they know they are having a bad game.
