getting matched with golds for unranked promos

LOL so I find this weird. Me and another summoner queued up in ranked with a total of 4 ranked games between us. ME (4) him (0) . And we get put against high golds . Is this normal? ps I know my cs is garbage and im a bad player but still this isn't about my personal skill
