My Take on Mordekaiser Changes
Okay okay okay, we've had near-daily threads on Mordekaiser from Malicious Metal (resident boards main, metalhead) himself, but I needed to get my ideas out of my system. Instead of coming up with an all-new kit and complicated shit like that, I'm just gonna talk about his current kit and discuss my opinions. DISCLAIMER: I am by no means a Mordekaiser main, only having played him few times in the top lane, so take my ideas with a grain of salt. (Or several, this is the Gameplay boards after all)
STATS:
So, as I've heard so many times, Mordekaiser has fairly low health and armor for a juggernaut. Let's compare Morde's max health and armor to the other reworked juggernauts.
Health: 1766, Armor: 83.8
Health: 2049, Armor: 78.5 (108.5 with fully stacked W)
Health: 2282, Armor: 97.9
Health: 2131, Armor: 94
Health: 2280, Armor: 98
Looking at these stats (according to the League Wikipedia), Mordekaiser has a rather big decrease in health compared to the other juggernauts, with their health ranging in the 2000s, and Morde's in the 1700s. This is likely to balance him out with his shield passive and his healing from W. As for armor, the only juggernaut Mordekaiser has more armor than is Garen, who can get a free 30 armor from farming. For a walking suit of armor, Morde has pitiful defensive stats. When Mordekaiser gets his rework, I'd like to see him become a bit tankier, possibly sacrificing some damage.
PASSIVE:
Morde's passive, Iron Man, gives him a meter which he increases by damaging enemies with his spells. This meter is converted into a shield, and will decay out of combat. Having this passive (combined with Mordekaiser's two AOE abilities) gives him an extra sustain and teamfights, and really gives off that feel of a raid boss that's REALLY HARD to kill, course, Mordekaiser isn't really that right now. Maybe this passive needs changes, maybe not.
Q: MACE OF SPADES
Ah yes, Mordekaiser's current Q. I remember his old kit just making him summon maces out of the ground, but this new ability limits Mordekaiser to melee range for a shitload of damage. This hybrid scaling ability has pretty good damage, for the first two strikes. The third hit will DEMOLISH enemies, with a 100-180% AD ratio and a 120% AP ratio, it's double the prior Qs, for the price of one. This ability, while simple, is absolutely fun to use. And don't act like other champs don't have this burst on one ability, with Mordekaiser it's at least three autos. I don't know how others feel about this, but I love this part of his kit and wish for it to remain.
W: HARVESTER OF SORROWS
Y'all know CertainlyT for certain right? He's the guy who made Windman (
) and has a part in the Assassin update (I don't know what he did, but it's looking great!) and he had the idea of making Mordekaiser the melee ADC (APC? Hybrid Carry?) of bot lane, which explains the changes for this ability. It gives him and the nearest ally (prioritizing champions) an AOE, dealing magic damage and can be recast to heal Mordekaiser for the damage it deals upon ending. Also, you share EXP with your support. So by now, while Carrykaiser was a good attempt, it doesn't work anymore. And I don't know how I feel about it working again, despite it's synergy with being right next to Dragon (more on that later). This ability gives him extra sustain, and it's in his melee range. But some alterations could be made to give Mordekaiser a better way of working in solo lanes (or jungle), such as changing the passive to extra resistances, or instead of a heal make it give scaling resistances, which increase over the duration. (Nasus' new ultimate, in a nutshell) I don't very much like this ability, and it may need to be heavily changed or even replaced, going off my opinion, that is.
E: SIPHON OF DESTRUCTION
This ability is basically extra shields in a cone-shape. It's a cast which deals magic damage (with hybrid scaling, lovely!) to all enemies in a cone and gives Mordekaiser extra shield value on top of his standard shield value. If Harvester of Sorrows is Morde's health sustain ability, Siphon of Destruction is his shield sustain ability. This is pretty staple on Mordekaiser now, but could we add a slow or even (don't kill me) a silence to it, just so Mordekaiser actually has CC and engage, making him not have a massive reliance on Rylai's Crystal Scepter?
ULTIMATE: CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE
This is what Mordekaiser is known for. If you can somehow catch out the ADC and kill them (with Morde's low base mobility, resistances, and lack of integrated CC), you get them as a ghost. A better description is that Morde curses an enemy champ, dealing magic damage initially and then over time. If the target dies, Morde gets them as a ghost; the ghost gets bonus health and AD scaling of Morde's, and Morde gets bonus health and AP scaling of the ghost's. Reading this, I realize that getting bonus AP from the ghost is near useless. Morde's primary target is the ADC, which deals, well, attack damage. They have no reason to build AP (except if you're, like, Corki) so Morde gets no bonuses. Anyways, what's Mordekaiser even more well known for? GHOST. FUCKIN'. DRAGON. Morde's attack passively put the curse on dragon, meaning that when it dies (to his team), he gets a BEEFY, HIGH-DAMAGE, GHOST DRAGON. Not only this dragon have higher damage than most early-mid games ADCs SHOULD have, he gets a global leash range, unlike champs which return to Morde if they're too far away. You get this dragon to get shit done, across the map alone or with you. What changes do I want to see to his ult? Very few; just get something more beneficial than extra AP from champion ghosts, and keep your DragonForce.
OVERALL AND CLOSING
My honest idea is that Mordekaiser needs to be this raid boss of unholy power. Like in his lore, the Mordekaiser player should be laughing when he finally dies. He should be a massive tank, with most of his burst in his ghost and Q, as to balance out his power. Q and Ult for damage; Passive, W, and E for sustain. As for his aesthetic, go with him being a caricature instead of a character, not character instead of a caricature. What I mean is make him this sorta final boss, overly evil, metal-clad revenant that just goes ham on the enemy. So, basically a big, metal, Veigar. Remember, I'm not a Mordekaiser main so I'm no expert on him, and all the statistics and info are from the fan-made, League of Legends wiki. What else do I have to say about Mordekaiser? Metal. Never. Dies.
