An error with the new champ select

Hi my name is Wini. I just tried the new champ select for my first time. When it was my turn to pick, I clicked on my champion. Then, because I did not "lock it in", it booted me out of the champ select and put a 15 minute hold until I can queue up again. Before, I could just "hover" my champion until the pick timer when out and it just selected the champion. But now I HAVE to lock in or else i get kicked? That seems weird to me and i think it should be changed.
