Hi, I am currently a player that is relatively new to this game, having only started in the latter end of season 6. Most of the time I am hesitant to make posts like this discussing the state of the game because I am relatively new. However I feel like my newness for once qualifies me on this subject. As of right now the new player experience is daunting, and the xp buff did nothing for new players instead benefiting smurfs. I understand Riot runs this game free of charge and needs to make money. But this game won't last as long as we all want it to if Riot pushes new players away with what has become the chore of getting champions and runes. Looking forward to making a rune page or buying that cool champion should be fun not a pain. My friend who I introduced to league and loved playing it with quit because of this reason. What's the point of charging for champions if your customers don't want to play your game? But I am not here to complain, I am here because I love this game and want it to be better, so here are some suggestions on how to fix this.
Events: Celebrating skins reworks and holidays is good for everyone, it gets the player base excited and encourages people to play with their friends which is good for Riot. During these events you could have Ip boosts like "earn an extra 50 ip in the new bloodmoon assassin game mode".
Averaging Out Prices: What I am suggesting here is not a flat lowering of the cost of champions. Instead you could take the very low 450 ip champions and raise them to around 800ip and take the very high 6300 ip champions and lower them to a more attainable price.
Making Runes Free: Now this is something I've heard veteran players complain more about than new players. The lack of a purchase with rp option make the massive cost of rune pages ridiculous. While Riot may not want to make them completely free a drastic price reduction is overdue.
If League was just some browser game I would never make this post. But it isn't just a game, it's a sport. And I feel like that's a title Riot should live up to and deliver an experience to help esports grow and not just fizzle out.
