how do i last hit more effectively while playing against an aggressive player?

I'm an adc main and i normally like to play passively, farm and then mid to late game just shred people. It tends to be effective as long as the other adc is either passive themselves and i kill them first once i feel im ready to all in or if they are aggressive they just aren't good with there champ and i outplay them, but if they play aggresively well and keep poking me how do i counter it? i played against a jhin recently who just poked me and didnt allow me to cs and once mid game rolled around i was so behind all i could do was sit under turret and try to last hit. and once team fighting started i was completely ineffective. so how do i cs effectively while dealing with the constant poke?

Great question to ask. I hope someone comes by and gives some good advice. I consider myself great with last hitting and I have a very passive/aggressive playstyle but I'm not great at giving advice. One little tip I have for you that MIGHT help is to make sure not to constantly check the enemies health bar while laning. I noticed for a while I would keep a constant eye on their health bar while CS'ing but it seems to help me more now that I focus more on their champion and creeps (and not the healthbar as much), this just simply allows me to keep more focus on their next move by paying more close attention to their body language.

Once it comes to avoiding his pokes/skillshot abilities, just never stop moving your champion, do not ever sit still to auto a creep, etc. 95% of the time you see 'Faker' or any other pro sidestep an ability it has nothing to do with reaction time, just prediction. It's easier than most think to accomplish this, and I'm no pro but that has not stopped me from being called a scripter more time than I can count. If they're an aggro laner that is poking every chance they get, it's time to think ahead. Keep in mind if you were The enemy, when/where would you cast the ability? He's gonna cast for you when he gets the chance so what you need to do is Give him the chance (AKA baiting his ability). So maybe you could stand still for a second and then get back to strafing left n right, change up the way you sidestep or they'll cope with it and still hit you.

Little extra tip once it comes to baiting abilities -(just one little example of counterplay) If you're facing a yasuo and are scared to cast your ultimate because of his windwall, quickly do whatever else you have to in order to scare/tempt him to pop and waste his shield, leaving him vulnerable.

Poke back when he tries to cs

Some of it comes down to you mechanically, a lot more of it comes down to your support. Your support should be either able to heal you after taking poke so it doesn't matter as much that you got poked, or should be able to provide enough pressure in lane that the enemy adc can not play so aggressively. No good adc is going to play super aggressively if there is a blitzcrank or a Leona in the bushes or near the minion wave for example.

As far as what you personally can do as an adc, know your matchup, know your range vs theirs, and anticipate their skill shots. For example with jhin his primary poke is his grenade, so the second he uses it on a minion, run until it is done bouncing. After the bounce, go for your farm or some poke of your own since his grenade is now on cool down. This all assumes of course that neither adc is fed or has any item advantage yet (lvl 1 start basically)

Well, part of the problem is you're an actively passive ADC. If I see that, I'm zoning the crap out of you if I get the opportunity. And if my support is on board, you're not seeing any farm for a few minutes. Long story short, you need to start learning some aggression. Obviously, don't just throw out random skill shots, try and punish them for farming. Watch where they and their support are, and try to force them to poke/trade you while inside of your minion wall. If they attack you or your support in that range, they'll draw the agro of the minions and at low levels, those minions hurt. See what minion they want to hit, try and position yourself to hit them when they step in to AA it. Keep in mind of what minion you wanna hit and watch if they're getting ready to punish you for it.

Sometimes, though, you have to back off and can't trade with them. Either because you don't have a support(yoloqq, yoooo), or they're hyper-aggressive and have the combo to do it. If you have to lose farm, you lose farm. Do your damndest to keep in range for exp without giving too much up(like being open for a gank, or them to all in you). Experience is just as valuable as farm. You can come back from being down 35cs, you have a much harder time coming back from down 35cs and two levels.

Going off na.op, you don't appear to be an adc player though, so you're going to get punished hard by adc mains, however. Pick a couple safe ADCs and learn them, and learn them well, if you're making a move to botlane. Caitlyn and Xayah are fairly safe. Caitlyn because she has that consistent range, Xayah because she has a pretty decent range for ADCs as well as good CC if you use it right. Trist is fairly interchangable with Caitlyn, but starts with lower AA range. Avoid the immobile hyper carries like Kog'maw, Twitch, or Jinx(Jinx is essentially low-elo Twitch, apparently). Practice your last-hitting in practice tool. Just trust me. Watch some ADC streams. Positioning is entirely the key as ADC. Non-adcs see it as a stream of long-range crit burst BS. Actual ADCs see it as a constant check on their position against everyone else's.

Once you can consistently hit 160-180cs in 20m in practice tool, do it again without buying your BF sword, or zeal items. Gimp yourself, pretend you're down on farm. The point is to practice actually last-hitting. Learn how to farm under turret. Melee minions> tower, tower, last hit. (this becomes harder as the game goes on if you don't have some sort of extra ad beyond your Doran). Caster minions> hit, tower, last hit.(this is only applicable when you only have your Doran's blade. Once you have any AD items, you should be able to last hit off the tower hit on casters). Then you can start working on trading and farming. You now know what you're looking for, you know what they should be looking for, you can then start working on positioning yourself to contest their farm, and position yourself against them contesting yours. Don't take my word as law, though, I'm just a lowly silver ADC. :3

it really depends on your champ and your support, a lot of passive adcs have tools for them to last hit from a distance (ezreals, q jinxs rockets etc) if the enemy picks a agressive adc like cait mf or jhin id always pick jinx into them just because you outscale them and can farm from a distance they'd have to lose cs to get to along with your long range poke and self peel so you wont be too support reliant, if they try to shove you under tower just switch to your rockets and use the aoe to shove them back as almost no adc has more aoe dmg than her, once you get your bf sword you should become the aggressive laner using your rockets whenever they go up to farm to zone them or even get them low enough to surprise engage them for a easy kill
