What do you guys think of this change...?
So personally, I think s10 updates were off the charts in breaking the game. Elder drake executes, elemental drake souls and new cheap lethality items etc. Riot says in their patch notes,
We're incentivizing junglers to prioritize farming rather than just fitting camps in between ganks.
Sees below, We're nerfing the XP and gold. xDDD Like you want an otaku/gamer to stay in their fuking home, so you decided to take their internet and games and anime/manga. Yeah nice logic.
So I was just thinking of ways we could change this broken ass of a game without changing too many aspects, as Riot fucked this game up through numerous patches and changes, and fix many of it's problems. So I had an idea which I thought would be pretty cool imo. Just wanted to share and see the community's reaction on that. It's not too technichal just sharing the ideas over the top of my head.
Changes:-
- Remove the gold gained on Kills and assists (Yeah you heard it right).
- Give the killer/assist an XP boost which scales with time for the next X minutes (1.5 or 2 minutes maybe).
- Increase Passive gold generation and/or gold per wave to offset point 1 but not fully offset.
- Buff the jungle XP and gold ofcourse.
Note that these are just the major changes. Now you might be thinking that's absurd or that's gonna make the game boring or too slow. Okay that will make the game last a little longer prolly longer like dota matches but imo the core thing this does is promote more macro play and strategic thinking. I don't know about you guys but I started playing this game in s3 and this game felt like a chess match going under the cover and now it feels more like a fighting game to me. Anyways let me list out the pros and cons that I managed to think of.
Pros:-
- Game will be more farm oriented early on and slow paced I guess.
- Removing Kill gold and only granting XP takes out most of the damage (which imo is overkill) from the game. This is because people will be getting thier items much later on. Imo the absurd amount of damage we see is because champions get gold and items much sooner then they should. This saves us from nerfing the items themselves.
- Botlane won't be seeing a 5/0 level 6 Zed ganking and 1 shotting them. He does have the level advantage but not the item advantage.
- This promotes strategic and objective oriented plays. Taking drakes/herald or getting your lane towers instead of ganking.
- Reduces jungle pressure and things like camping.
- This doesn't obviously completely removes the merit from ganking/roaming. Successful ganks/roams will provide you or anyone who participated XP boosts and deny the enemy the increased gold from farming creeps.
- SInce XP boost scales with time, this won't allow to quickly outlevel your opponent (e.g a difference like level 4 and level 9). It will also allow players that got dc'ed and came back later in game to quickly level up if they got an assist.
- The losing team has more chances of comeback since they won't be seeing an immediately "fed" champion.
And the biggest pro to this change imo is lifting much of the influence of the "luck" factor. A noob, imprudent player playing Master YI/Garen gets 4 kills in a tf and proceeds to dominate not because of their strategic, cool-minded, calculated and tactical plays but instead just because their champion allows them to do so. Well not anymore. Just because a foolish person got 4 kills shouldn't ultimately shutdown a person who is trying to make tactical plays.
Cons:-
- In High elo, since both the opponents are gonna be already farm oriented, killing the other guy may or may not net you a significant advantage. I think the loss of gold actually is a pretty decent advantage. Infact, maybe low elo players will have more difficutly in seeing a significant advantage since their farming skills are poor.
- Closing the game is much harder. (which imo should be if you didn't make strategic and objective oriented plays)
- Game time increases.
- Game becomes slow paced.
- You won't be enjoying 1 shotting champs much sooner.
I think Riot could try to make a separate game mode, like Dota has a "Turbo" mode where the lenght of the match is significantly shorter. This could be the opposite. They'd only have to mess up with the gold generation stuff without changing any champs/items imo. Haven't really thought much about the cons though, so I'm open to critcism xD
