What's the point of a ranked system if you play with people three tiers above you?

Maybe I'm just thinking to far into it but why have a ranked system that requires you to play 10 provisional games to find where you "belong" just play with/against people far better than you?

I honestly think to myself that maybe I'll learn something coming out of this game. I (solo'd myself out of bronze to S5, 0lp) just learn that I'm not as good as players who are ranked Gold and above. Why do I consistently match up with these people? What is the point of ranked if I'm not playing with/against players around my own skill level?

It looks like the last ranked game you played consisted of entirely either S5 or S4 players. That's pretty much exactly equal skill across all 10 players. Maybe if you had some examples of you consistently having to play against or with Gold+ players I could see this. It may happen once in awhile because of the duo queue system but I suspect most of your games will consist of B2-S2 players.
