Counterbuilding Struggles

We have all had that game where the enemy vayne is so fed it seems like there is nothing you can do about it. I once tried counterbuilding a vayne i bought a few defensive items such as randuin's omen, frozen heart, and even thornmail, but to my surpise nothing enabled me to withstand the insane damage of the lategame vayne.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying vayne is broken. I am saying it is immensely difficult to shut down a vayne player that knows what they are doing. We all know vayne is an incredibly difficult champion because of her complex mechanics, and her full poential is only fulfilled by players that use these mechanics perfectly.

But from what I have seen, vayne isn't such an amazing "hypercarry" soley because of her complicated mechanics, I have noticed that vayne's extremely strong kit partially relies on her W (silver bolts) being % max health true damage. This is why there is practically no counterbuild to a large portion of vayne's damage. If you build armor/magic resistance the true damage goes through it. To counter true damage you build health. Well its % maximim health damage so that doesnt work either. Thornmail got nerfed into oblivion so theres no hope there.

Vayne players should definitely have high reward for being so skilled with the mechanics, but there should be a way to reduce that damage if you build accordingly. Even though silver bolts applies to 1 of every 3 consecutive hits on the same target, all good vayne players build lots of attack speed, thus applying the silver bolt procs more frequently and outputting more of the damage that cannot be negated.

We all there are other chanpions with % maximum health true damage, such as the new fiora. But these champions have long cooldowns on said abilities.

I do see this as a bit of a problem, but I would hate to see vayne reworked. The solutions that I see fit are:

Make vayne's W (silver bolts) do % CURRENT health true damage.

Make vayne's W (silver bolts) do % max health physical damage

If we remove the base and make it %current health I think we might be fine

I think the % health true damage might be a bit too core as a part of Vaynes kit to be removed, that said there are other ways to change her that could give her that weak early game while preserving her late game scaling, like changing the proc of silver bolts with levels into the ability, like levels 1 and 2 you need 5 hits to proc the mark, while 3 and 4 you need 4, and 5 points in it gets you the current 3, or increasing the cool down of tumble at early levels maybe even tying the cool down to levels in her ult.

Thanks to all who have posted. Your comments are very appriciated and always welcome. I am glad to see that some of my fellow boards members also agree for a slight change but don't want to see a complete vayne rework devastate all the vayne mains out there.

Physical damage tends to make sense to me, although forcing her third proc on sliver bolts to have a mana cost could also work, she can use item 3035 to great effect with her built in %hp damage without being so overbearing late game. Just my thoughts
