I was wondering what kind of rewards I could be exepcting when putting essence or IP into these tickets and actually winning the tournament. Will I get skins? Champs? Gemstones? I'm completely in the dark and didn't find anything about the pay-off in the dev post either.

A lot of things is unclear at the moment. We have to wait for the answers. The rewards is not confirmed.
I can tell you what I got! I got to the final round but lost, and I bet one ticket. I got a capsule containing a team icon (dark star yay), three wins xp boost and a skin shard (elementalist lux yay my friend got elderwood Leblanc) so you could expect the same - but more with more tickets - and the team got the same team icon
