Ranked MMR not working?

To whom it may concern,

I was gold 4 last season, and I went 6/2 in placements and placed silver 3 and then I went up to 9/3 because I always win my lane because I haven't been legitly silver since season 2. Now I'm losing a majority of my games due to whatever reason, but that's not my issue.

My issue is that when I win a game I go up by 15 lp, and when I lose a game I lose 23+ lp. However my win ratio is positive and my mmr was previously higher. Why is it that i'm losing so much more than I am winning, yet my play hasn't changed at all? Shouldn't Riot be rewarding my wins instead of making it harder and harder for me to climb back to gold?

Very Best,

DID

early season ranks are always lower.

everyone has to climb back up. it's not a full reset but you start quite a bit lower.

as to why you lose more LP than you gain, it's probably because a lot of people with even higher MMR than you are still in Silver. For example, if a lot of high Gold players from last season are now in Silver, then your MMR isn't as impressive. within a month or two, the ladder will fill out more. there's no real point worrying about it since within 100-150 games, you'll almost certainly be between a few divisions from where you belong (this assumes you try your best and also dodge some really bad lobbies).
