Why do we complain about Riven while Irelia is around?
Title speaks for itself. The only champ i can think of that can go 0/7 in a game and buys a trinity force and continues to go 16/7.

because she is gated by mana even in the mid game?
also she only has 1 gap closer that can only reset IF YOU KILL YOUR TARGET with it otherwise it goes on a meaningful cooldown. did i mention its targeted? did i mention that if you picked the right top lane champion her getting a trinity at 40 min in won't do jack since you are already hitting her nexus. il leave the counter pick to you its frankly too easy.
riven on the other hand gets 4 free dashes in any direction for free not to mention a 100% AOE stun irelia only has a situational 1v1 stun/slow. and has very little counter play in her kit. except for the "just cc her hurrdurr"
People HIGHLY overrrate Irelia. People act as if by just buying TF, she suddenly is more bursty than Graves and Leblanc combined. Newsflash:She isn't. And her "sustain in teamfights" is a joke. If you are auto attacking, odds are you are in it until someone dies or someone triggers a disengage.
Yeah, she has a really nice passive, but why do people hate it? I thought everyone vilified the morg roots and annie stuns, but somehow having a tiny amount of innate resistance to that bologna makes her the devil?
Heaven forbid she has a stun too. Oh no how DARE she, it's not like almost everyone else has one too.

im sure you can find a video of a 1/6 irelia just insta deleting a 10-1 ADC or something like that.

For real, yeah she has a huge mid game powerspike but as long as she doesn't get ultra fed many champs can outscale her just because her W deals flat true damage.
Granted it is hell to tear her off a carry, but a decent front line helps a ton.

I dont think either are a problem, but they are hardly comparable.

Because why Nerf Irelia when you can Nerf Riven instead? :o Consider the fact that the majority of people who complain about Riven complain merely because they've grown accustomed to the many Riven smurfs that appear in low elo compared to Irelia smurfs. They ignore the fact that Riven is pretty easy to counter with proper positioning and knowledge of her cooldowns and balanced by the fact that Riven has probably the lowest combined base stats in the game.
Irelia on the other hand, she's stupidly strong in every elo and the logic that applies to "counterable champions" goes out the window when she has like 60% tenacity late game and insane sustain in fights, along with strong mobility and a 4.8 CD stun that stuns for TWO seconds. Oh, and she get's 75 true damage on every auto/q.

It's simple, riven has much more versatility. Effectively 100% of her damage is AoE, no resource restrictions, and is a pseudo-caster... as in she can deal the vast majority of her damage without ever auto attacking, as an AD champion...
