The Champion Rotation System As It Stands Now

So, I've recently been thinking about the champion rotation and its purpose due to the fact that people say that its an awful system because you play a champion that you like and can't afford the IP to get it. However, as I've been thinking about this problem, I came to the conclusion that we might be approaching the rotation with a different mindset than what it was meant for.

What if: Riot made the champion rotation to be like what it is now? What if: Riot intended for the rotation to last for a week for a reason?

So, I personally think that the Champion Rotation was made for new players not to find a champion, but to learn a champion. I feel like it was made for you to have a basic understanding of most of the champions by the time you hit level 30. For instance, I didn't know anything about Zyra, but she was in the rotation, so I decided to try her out because I knew it would give me a disadvantage if someone decides to pick her, so I try her out, but not to play her; to understand her.

I feel like the week is a long enough time to learn a champion's moves and their power spikes and what items are good on them. So, I personally believe that this was the concept that Riot was trying to convey when the rotation was made, but it evolved into what it is now where you play a champion that you'll probably never buy soon.

Looking at the champion rotation with this mindset actually allows me to strategically analyze what makes every champion good, and now, I understand what each champion does to a novice level, which allows playing against them a lot easier. So, hopefully you guys think about this and look at the champion rotation differently next time it changes on Tuesday.

Thanks for your time, MakatoKun

1 week isn't enough to learn a champion. IMO 1 year is probably not even enough to learn 1 champion. The free rotation just means you have to either just play horribly or stick to the few champions you bought, when you're on your first account, pre-30 anyways.

The champion rotation exists to allow people to try new champions they might not own (i.e. advertisement) and to ensure that people have champions they can play that are able to fulfill any role in a game. The last point is especially relevant for new players, who own no champions, and would be very limited otherwise.

Also the reason you say it's an awful system is exactly one of the purposes behind the system. So you'll play new champs, enjoy them, and want to buy them. It's not a problem at all. It's working as intended.
