Why is top ADC so popular?

Top being one of my main roles this is really quite annoying... When you lock in say Darius and you go against a Quinn, when you lock in Garen and you go against a Quinn, or when you lock in Renekton and you go against a Quinn. One - Why does no one play melee champs anymore in top lane and why is Quinn so popular top? It's not just Quinn though when going top the past few months I've seen anywhere from Vayne to Quinn to Ashe to Caitlyn. WHY?!? I'm just sitting here like [slayer-jinx-unamused] God I hate ADC top vs a melee champ. Is it the new meta am I just missing something? What are your thoughts?

it's as you say, a counter to melee champs, Graves Quinn can build still build bruiser and completely rek melee champions

Simply because it is a free lane. about 1/4 of the marksman can be built VERY tanky, such as graves, quinn, and caitlyn (yes caitlyn), while still dealing assloads of damage. Sterak's Gauge has broken the top meta.

Because it's an easy way to win your lane. So people do it.

Pretty much because no melee top laner can deal with a ranged champ by himself. Even if you have strong engages they have a disengage, if you want to outdamage them you can't since they have both more damage and more range, if you want to tank... well adc are made to counter tanks, so you just can't. Also some tank items have found theyr way into adc's builds breaking them and making the effectively more tanky than most tanks while still dealing more damage with more safety.

I personally love when Quinn goes top. Gives me an easy Singed game for once.
