Shen's new Spirit Blade

Shen's new big glowy floating passive sword looks pretty cool, and it seems like it could be a pretty neat idea, but in its current state it almost seems like it was just thrown on to make his W work. His new W is cool, don't get me wrong, but i think there's more that could be done with it.

firstly, the way it follows Shen seems incredibly awkward and clunky, not very ninja-like at all. why not maybe have it follow him around similarly to how Tibbers follows Annie around when you're level 4 and have no idea that you can control your big flaming bear. It doesn't need to stick to you or be super controllable like Ori's ball, it just seems like it should be smoother.

also, i'm sure everyone has seen complaints regarding the loss of Vorpal Blade and it's sweet ranged poke and sustain, and those really are nice qualities that Shen had. I wouldn't suggest bringing back Vorpal Blade, as it was a very boring point-and-click ability, but here's my suggestion: have his Q move his Spirit Blade to a targeted area near Shen, rather than directly to Shen, and deal damage in a small area. (maybe you can even have the sword swing when it reaches its destination eh?) The current 3-hit effect is fine, but could possibly only apply to enemies that were hit with the Q in the first place. It would also be very nice to see some form of heal returned to the ability, possibly by healing Shen based on the % of units hit by the initial Q, or maybe by having each of the 3 hits he gets heal him a bit.

Sorry if this post was a bit long-winded, i just wanted to put some of my thoughts on this new mechanic out there.

You and abt every other decent shen player share similar concerns...

Why didn't Riot make his new Q give **sustain **if it hits an enemy champion? It's weird that you can only use it to hit someone if A) They walk into it B) You taunt them C) You flash

It should do a decent amount of damage for how hard you've got to work to hit someone with it.

I wonder if it damages minions...

It would give him some good wave clear, he's always lacked that early game.

I think** every time Riot puts out something they get backlash from the community**. Shen's rework was known to be coming soon and I saw a small amount of good suggestions. So when you don't give **INPUT **you can't control the OUTPUT. I feel like if the community became more vocal with it's opinions Riot would have no choice but to give a response.

On the other hand, if Riot reworked my main and it ended up bad (they already did, RIP Sona) I'd be (and I was) pissed off. With that being said, sometimes we as a community are vocal with our thoughts, but some players heavily punish Riot for their mistakes. Good players can make something more out of less and I think Riot tries to teach that lesson.

I do agree with everything you said to some extent
