What to do after I take the first tower top?

I've been playing alot of top morde recently. And I've noticed after I take the tower I get stuck in what to do next. i end up just running mid or bot doing nothing. meanwhile enemy top laner gets my tower. I'm in gold and I just want some advice on what I am suppose to do after I take top. what am I suppose to be looking for to help my team. Also what are the big no no's when I'm in the lead? Thank you for your help. I also accidently open this up in player behavior but thank you for everyones help in the previous thread. I hope I post this in the right place this time.

This greatly depends on who you're playing, who your enemy is, how much of a lead you have, and a bunch of other variables.

Some top laners like to go a split push build and grab things like item 3512 or much more rarely item 3060 , and often times are a good choice no matter the situation. While your team fights or gets objectives, you're pushing in lanes that are not occupied by enemies to get extra towers or at minimum some lane pressure. That's usually a good place to start.

This is an interesting subject, and it depends on who you are. Generally if you're a snowball champion or you know you can reliably 1v2, getting Rift Herald and maintaining pressure top is often the best bet in lower elos. Also, at this stage you can counter jungle and keep vision on the top quarter of the map making things harder for the enemy jungler, and easier for your own team. (Vision = knowledge = power)

Champions like Renekton Darius Tryndamere are all good examples of champions who get ahead can draw more than 1 person top making the game easier for your team.

You could watch NEACE's art of split pushing, which he goes into depth the actual mechanics of split pushing itself.

Often with some champions your best bet is to float around the area, ward the quadrant near the tower you're looking to push in, so if this is secondary top it'll probably be the Krugs or Gromp. Keep this area warded and keep hard pushing the lane into the tower, but don't commit to any 1v1's unless you confirm where the enemy team is. If you count 4 heads mid, it might be a good time to engage if you can get a hold of the enemy. Watch for people spltting off from the group. At this point you should look to run back and avoid a 1v2 if you're un sure, but if you are sure you 100% should kill them both. This is often achievable with more snowbally top laners, esp Darius, since getting 1 kill often sets up the other kill. Also if you're in voice comms with your team, tell them to force an engage once the 4th enemy team member splits off to come and get you.

You don't necessarily have to be at secondary tower each time to generate pressure, often you just have to let them know "Im near it, and im ready to fucking take it."

If you have a mid lane that is falling behind however, it could be wise to rotate down there after pushing the lane out to help allieviate pressure, but depending on the champ, catching even immobile mages could be risky.

As morde, just go for dragon and use the dragon ghost to push mid. But generally, you want to push out top, then deep ward their jungle and evt take some creeps(ideally on a champ that can escape unlike morde) and catch your minions whenever they push to your half of the map. Always have an eye on the minimap to see when the minions start pushing towards your tower so you can return to lane in time. However, what to do after invadeing the jungle remains a big question in soloQ, as that part actually would require coordination, and even in pro play you can see especailly at the 'weaker' teams that they don't really know what to do once they got the outer turrets. Deoending on your setup, you would want to keep the splitpush on as long as you got vision and if the other 4 do atleast ok, or you want to group around objectives and force fights, ask your jungler to bring a ward behind the opposing bot tower and use tp for a 4-man dive. Usually the best way to win in soloQ is getting your carry fed while keeping the opposing one low and possibly makeing him tilt. This also means that you leave minions to your adc whe you are both near a big wave. As sad as it is, but as toplaner you'll never make as much use of the gold as an adc does. If you're splitpushing, Always watch the minimap, if to many opponents are miss, you can asume they come for your ass and it's time to go - unless the rest of your team actually goes for an objective, in that case you can just try to buy as much time as possible for them to freely take it. And always look out for TP opportunities, evt remind your team that deep-wards not only help with vision, but also are needed for good tp-flanks. Also, if you try to help loosing lanes, just be there and allow them to farm by zoneing the opponents, don't take their farm(just something that happens alot to me when i fall behind-,-, don't be supprised that your adc does no damage if you take every wave befor it gets to save territory where he could farm(sorry for the rant, just happened to often in my games)). it really doesn't help your allies if you chase away their opponents just to deny their farm anyway, and don't try all-ins unless you think you can win them on your own, loosing lanes are usually rather hessitant on commiting to fights, and even if they do, depending on how far behind they are they might just get killed once again. Ohh, and get controllwards either for dragon/baron when it's relevant or just for controlling the river. If you get tower first, you usually are far enough ahead to easily afford them.

I see a decent number of top's keep top alive but low and milk those kills/minions and tele to drag/bot when needed. Lots of factors in this though, champ and team are the biggest ones. If you can escape split pushing is always a fine generic play.
